Ah what a weekend stereosonic has brought us, wrapped up nicely with tiesto playing silence, a big bottle of gatorade, glasses conceailing every parents nightmare, and a lovely few days of scatting out and reminiscing about the international acts that stole away many a brain cell. However now the cunning hunters are finally back to work after a well needed break, and will start once more to feel up your itunes with juicy new tracks.
This week we'll be presenting to you some cool new funky house, and a taste of the our latest collection of tracks to be played every saturday night at the newly refurbished havanna on oxfrod st. To check out the event copy and paste the following:
Then we have a song that we can't put our fingers on. Something about this song is actually quite attractive. Suppose if you listen to anything for long enough it will start sounding alright, regardless worth having a listen.
We also have a harder electro remix of Gifted by NASA which collaborates with a number of artists including Kanye, Santigold & Lykke Li this remix is created by the king of kicking and screaming on stage mr Steve Aoki
Then last but not least to end the list is a song that swings more to the trance side of life, still a brilliant song no matter what category u want to put it in. Have a listen.
We haven't been posting as much as we should in recent weeks and for that we are sorry. But we have been scouring the web for some amazing dub beats, and as always we have found and now its time for us to deliver.
Enjoy some dub step.
First up is another Amazing Flux Pavillion Remix, on a freestyler song called crack truely worth having a listen to.
This is a fucking brilliant remix of the over remixed classic Bulletproof by your favourite pom La Roux. It also ft.s Major Lazer really, really cool beat. Just a teaser.
How can a dub step list be complete without Innocence By Nero? We have uploaded the remix but thought worth while uploading the original. Quality Mind bender all round.
Then we have a remix of White Satin by the Moody Blues created by Zed Dead.
Not much to say, listen for yourself. Hard, Dirty, Grimy, Fidgety, Filthy Dub Banger.
Ok, so its serious now. I know we have been selfish lately and mainly posted our own songs. However, we want you to hear we have to show. This week we bring to you the first Cunning Hunters single. Sampled from an african choir, 'This is Africa' is a prosseive track with long tasty peaks. If you come to le panic this weekend, we will make sure you hear it..
The Cunning Hunters have joined up with a skinny white boy called Dom Westbrook and are now running Saturday nights at Le Panic Nightclub in kings Cross. We would love to see everyone down there this Saturday for a few messy drinks and to listen to some pumping music.
The Night is ran by MIDNIGHT MISSION, and named AFTER DARK, hope to see you all there.
We have put together a second track, this time a little more upbeat. The track, made again on ableton, and using miditech and korg keyboards, samples a George Bush speech on communism. Hope you all enjoy, and we will continue putting up our new tracks as regularly as possible.
While one half of the Cunning Hunters remains strolling around the deep summer nights of europe, the other half has returned. I must apoligise for the lack of blogging in recent weeks, however the likes of Amsterdam, Paris and London clubs have opened our eyes to whole new world of sounds. After returning a few days ago i have instantaneously transformed into an misanthropic monster, locked away in my room with a computer, keyboard, and recently purchased bleton. After DJ'ing for soo long, the Cunning Hunters have finally taken their next step and joined the rest of keyboard punishing comunity.
However for those readers who do not believe me, I have included a sample of one of many songs that has stolen my life away. Although it needs a lot of work, and is not yet worthy of a backroom of all backrooms it will have to do.. for now.
p.s. If you have tracks tucked away on a computer in your basement that you've never found the time to show someone, or simply wearn't man enough, please email the cunning hunters at thecunninghunters@gmail.com, and let you, help us, helping you.
Preview of one of the Cunning Hunters first tracks (hopefully to be fully released in the next few weeks) drop out.mp3
There is no doubt in my mind that one of the following songs will send shivers down your spine. After a music filled relaxing weekend away, the cunning hunters have rummaged together a number of delectable new tracks in anticipation of our gig at 'le panic' situated in kings cross this coming Friday (the 18th). This will be the third time we have played this event, and look forward to smashing through some new deep, nasty, and deliciously spine tingling music. The below tracks will offer you a mix of old school and new school drum n bass and progressive/deep/hard house. The last track discovered by a friend of ours, will surely wheel your mouse over the rest of the songs we have to offer you today. enjoy!
Yep we finally cracked that millennium mark on the post. To celebrate we have given you some of what we do believe to be some of the coolest songs going around.
First up an absolute masterpiece of a remix by Andy Muller of the amazing Radiohead tune;
It seems to be that every day someone, somewhere, decides they want to become the next big DJ in the world. We have come to face the fact that it is getting easier and easier for pretty much anyone to accomplish due to technology i.e. better Mixers, CDJ's, Computer programs, MIDI controllers, EFX machines whatever you can think of its turning digital and getting easier thanks to technology.
So at the end of the day what the fuck separates us from the other's you ask?
Our own unique music collection and how we pull it all together in a set. It's pretty much as simple as that. We believe that we are begging to master this so in recognition of this fact here are some fan fucking tastic songs which everyone should have to enjoy:
Unlike education, Procrastination is a beautiful thing for the world of music. Itune's sits comfortably between your word document and that black and white website, and soon music has stolen your attention. That repetitious website on Australian history and politics has soon mistakenly turned into hype machine, and before you know it, new tracks are pouring into a play list labeled 'hectic new songs'. As uni winds downs, major essays wind up, and so the blogging begins. This week we decided its time show our viewers some long awaitedtech. There is a lot of tech out there, ranging from the minimal sounds of Dubfire, to the more engineered sounds of our personal favorite Dusty Kid. Anyway, here's a list of tracks acquired through timeless blogging, and grand theft USB from friends computers (mainly Dom's):
After listening to Above & Beyond's latest podcast (#321), next week will be devoted to trance - A world so unexplored by public acceptance. But we will make sure by the end of the blog you will be bowing down to the euphoric sounds that truly bring to question: sex or music?
This time it was for a 21st at a very cool house in point piper. This was seen to us as a good chance to try out some newly acquired beats that were blasted through some truly monumental speakers.
These new tracks included some fresh funk and heavy house, with some really cool break downs. We have been trying to acquire a unique sound that is recognizable by the people and will continue to delve into unknown corners of the music world to bring you the finest beats that we can get our grubby, greedy, needy hands on in order to achieve this. :)
Overall the set went down a treat, without a hick up and the dissipated sways of the crowd provided us with affirmation of our new audible anthems.
Dubstep, dubstep, dubstep... Since 2005 this genre has subtly emerged from the shadows and crept into clubs, car stereos and our increasingly bulky cd wallet. And it keeps on getting better. Sure there is a lot of it, and some of its bound to creep down the wrong alley i.e. oxford art at some late sets but nonetheless there is some fucking cool stuff out there. We,The Cunning Hunters are into the cleaner dubstep (that still sounds like its been left in the sun for a week), with trancy peaks and progressive break downs.
Enough talk, here are some tracks that should blow your mind:
The last song really will shake what ever is between your legs, ..and yes, nero is the man
April 8, 2010
So it is now April and the sun has sunk beneath the summer fun, but with autumn comes new music and this month has pleasured us with some great new drum and bass. With the help of a friend and hype machine, itunes has had a healthy diet of fast paced uplifting beats, that were just made to be played unnecessarily loud, even if that meant winding down those car windows and attempting to educate the public.
This first track comes from a guy named MatoLenicky aka B complex from Slovakia, who has been sitting in his lab cooking up some pretty dope stuff since 1996. Anyway give this track a go:
The second track is just as good, possibly better with its chilled acoustic intro which soon shoots into a fast paced version of cruel intentions and drum n basses first child. definitely worth a download, and makes a wicked car trip cruiser. if this is the London duo's credits, i would love to see the movie.
And last of all, a track that once dominated most every one of my play-lists is this classic track by Matt Harvey and Evan Short, better known as concord dawn. They make a variety cool D n B and are definitely worth checking out.
Concord Dawn - Morning Light (computer refused to let me upload this)
Festival Season was kicked off with Future Music Festival 2010 which started and ended with a variety of cool new age progressive tech, uplifting euphoric trance, and rough drum n bass. My all time favourite artists Above and Beyond lived up to their name, while the likes of Sven Vath (who unfortunately ever only produced one cool track: Sven Vath - Spring Love), Dubfire and The Prodigy blasted pleasurable sound waves across the chaotic 40,000 people crowd. So be prepared for we love sounds and Creamfields as they should both be festivals worthy of the growing Sydney electronic music scene. I leave you with a video a guy named The Maneken, who has gone and taken dj'ing to the next level, leaving the rest of us with our tales stuck awkwardly between our legs:
A trip down to Canberra for their annual toga party proved to be a very messy/enjoyable/interesting night. ANU put together a raging party full of Greek attires and alcohol suppliers, that both started and ended with a bang. Sound and lighting was again impeccable with lasers, smoke and more lights then you could poke a stick at streaming over the chaotic crowd, wrapped in sheets and spilt drinks.
Our conventional set from 9 till 12 took us through the usual genres, beginning with reasonably chilled progressive house and then quickly moving into the classic's once the crown had loomed.
Over 2000 people turned up to the event which was centered around our stage, making it impossible to escape the relentless crowd. This was our most satisfying gig to date. As the members of st Johns and Burgermans (not sure this is correct) college absolved their dignity and let loose on the dance floor we sat back and enjoyed the best view ANU had to offer.
As St Johns College theme song was Memories (the lrycis had even been written on posters within the building), David Guetta proved to be a big success. As per usual our final song was dancing in the moonlight by Toploader which always proves to be a popular and soppy final track. Below are a few of the songs that helped build up the crowd, and that we strongly recommend you download if you have not already done so:
Memories - David Guetta Feat. Kid Cudi
Dancing in the moonlight - Toploader
Because I Got High - Afroman
(la da da da dada da. . .)
Heartbreaker (Laidback Luke Remix) - MSTRKRT feat. John Legend
(never fails to go off)
Kidsos (Wippenberg Remix) - Sebastian Ingrosso
Wippenberg - Chakalaka
(very under rated track, with unbelievable progressive peak)
We are working towards turning the above songs into hyper links so they can be easily downloaded, and hope in the near future will make it to hype machine where our music will be easily accessible.

This event was held on cockatoo island, Sydney Harbour, and is the home of a number of old shipping warehouses. With a great sound system, and promising acoustics bouncing off the antinque machinery and modern lighting, the event proved to be very successful.
A multiplicity of genres were punished throughout the night, enabling us to play an array of old/new school tracks. However a variety of progressive/mainstream house and old hip hop proved to be the most desirable music throughout the night. This included the likes of Cypress Hill, Adam K and Soho, Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke and Sebastian Ingrosso.
All in all a fantastic evening ! ! - the music selection was everywhere but in the end a few classics definitely got us through, including:
Jump Around - House of pain
Satisfaction vs. Be - Steve Angello vs. LBL
One More Time (Sebastian Leger Bootleg Remix) - Daft Punk
WARP 1.9 (Feat. Steve Aoki) - The Bloody Beetroots
